NORTH BEND, ORE - Emergency Airlift is a local air ambulance company that has been moving patients quickly and safely for six years, now they have a new home to house their operation.
They have helped transport over 2,500 victims from accident scenes, or from hospital to hospital, and recently they showed the public during an open house just what it is they can do.
Ed Langerveld says they get a number of calls from the Oregon Dunes, so they had a mock A.T.V rescue at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport on Saturday, August 14th.
Emergency Airlift recently took over the old Horizon headquarters and crew quarters, since they have a team on stand-by 24-hours a day.
The Open House also served as a good opportunity for local first responders to get to put a face to the name of the people they work with when Emergency Airlift responds.
Langerveld says 3,000 local families have a membership with Emergency Airlift in case they need a higher level of care and transport, adding that they can get a patient to a hospital in Eugene in 20 minutes. A trip to Portland lasts just over an hour.
