Emergency Airlift makes history in North Bend and Roseburg, Oregon.

Emergency Airlift, the local air ambulance company, announced today the launch of their two newly purchased Bolkow-BO105S helicopters. These helicopters will be dedicated solely to Emergency Medical Services work in Oregon, west of the Cascade Mountain Range. The helicopters will be the first EMS helicopters based at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport and the Roseburg Municipal Airport.  The helicopters are part of Emergency Airlift’s impressive fleet of six EMS fixed wing aircraft and two long range EMS jets, servicing five air ambulance bases in Oregon, California, Nevada and the Island of Guam.

Emergency Airlift has the ability to land directly at the hospital or scene of an accident, drastically reducing patient transit time between hospitals.  The helicopters are capable of transporting one patient with a critical care specialty team directly from hospital to hospital.

"It is exciting to add these helicopters to our growing fleet.  We now have a wide range of equipment which allows us to choose the best suited aircraft for the job," stated Edward Langerveld/CEO & Director of Operations.  “It is a crucial instrument in broadening the EMS resources greatly needed along the Oregon coast and Douglas County areas. The ability to utilize the helicopter for scene work and with our more critical patients makes all the difference because our response time to the scene or bedside is a matter of minutes ensuring the highest level of care is available without delay," stated Ed.

On July 4, 2008 from 11:00am to 3:00pm Emergency Airlift will have the helicopters on display at their North Bend, Oregon headquarters where they will be conducting a drawing for several free demonstration flights available to our Emergency Airlift members. Non-members can sign up online or on location.

Your life, our mission, minutes count.

Air Ambulance Company aircraft at the Roseburg Airport

Emergency Airlift is a worldwide air ambulance corporation headquartered at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend, Oregon.  Emergency Airlift has four locations; Long Beach, California, Yerington, Nevada North Bend, Oregon and now Roseburg, Oregon.

Hospitals request air transportation when a higher level of medical care is required and time is a critical factor.  A majority of air transfers are traumas where minutes do make a difference.  Emergency Airlift’s experienced 24-hour dispatch center has tight protocol procedures, ensuring immediate response and providing the best quality in patient care.  Now local Roseburg residents have the piece of mind knowing if they ever need an air ambulance they no longer have to wait for an outside service.  The Roseburg airport location also allows Emergency Airlift to take off in bad weather conditions where aircraft based outside of the area would not even be able to get in.

As a mobile intensive care unit in the air, Emergency Airlift has the ability to perform a multitude of highly technical, life-saving, medical functions during transport.  Emergency Airlift is committed to providing fast and reliable medical air transportation with an emphasis on safety and excellent patient care.  Emergency Airlift aircraft are jet-propelled, twin-engine, pressurized, all weather, day-or night-capable, with a cruising speed of 300 miles per hour.  They can be in Portland from Roseburg in 35 minutes.  Emergency Airlift’s aircraft can fly in icy conditions, where helicopters would be grounded under the same conditions.  Their aircraft operate under FAA's highest standards and are fully equipped with the state-of-the-art medical equipment.  Their fleet of aircraft includes two long range jets with nonstop coast to coast capability.

Emergency airlift knows that medical air transportation can be an unexpected and very costly expense.  They offer a membership program for just $35.00 per household for a full year; you will have no out-of-pocket cost if you need their services.  Resident who are currently members of any other air ambulance program, Emergency Airlift will replace it free of cost with their membership program for one year.  Download a membership application form from their web site (www.emergencyairlift.com) or see the yellow membership application located in this paper.

Emergency Airlift begins Operating New Air ambulance base in Klamath Falls Oregon, January 26, 2009.

Last month Emergency Airlift expanded their air ambulance operations to include Klamath Falls, Oregon.  Emergency Airlift is a worldwide air ambulance corporation with operations North Bend, Oregon Roseburg, Oregon, Yerington, Nevada, the island of Guam and now Klamath Falls.  Emergency Airlift has a fleet of 7 fixed wind aircraft 3 Helicopter and 2 long range jets making Emergency Airlift the most versatile air ambulance company in the Pacific Northwest.

On January 26, 2009 Emergency Airlift based a helicopter along with a ground ambulance directly at the Klamath Falls Airport.  Flight crew, alongside a critical care trained nurse and paramedic are standing by 24/7 providing rapid, life saving, critical care to the Klamath Falls area.  Before Emergency Airlift an outside air ambulance company had to travel miles in order to respond.  A locally based helicopter will not only drastically reduce response times but also provide the ability to either land directly at Skylakes Medical Center or the scene of an accident.  Secondly, a local aircraft has the ability to take off in bad weather conditions when companies coming from other areas could not obtain the proper FAA clearance needed to land.  In short, landing minimums are greater than take off minimums, giving Emergency Airlift the ability to obtain a clearance for a take off when a landing clearance from a company outside the area would be denied.

The helicopter is capable of transporting one patient with a critical care specialty team.  Emergency Airlift’s versatile fleet plays an important factor in excellent patient care and safety.  As the weather deteriorates Emergency Airlift has the ability to quickly change their equipment from a helicopter to a fixed wing, all weather, day-or-night capable aircraft.

Emergency Airlift’s air ambulance membership program is an annual cost of $35.00 per household.  Member’s service area includes the entire state of Oregon, Nevada, Washington and northern California.  Membership offers a locally based air ambulance service with no out-of-pocket cost.  Emergency Airlift offers Klamath Falls residents who are currently members of any other air ambulance program to replace it, free of charge, with a one year Emergency Airlift membership.

“We are very excited to be here, rapid response times and transport with the best possible clinical care is my plan for this area.” Stated Edward Langerveld/CEO & Director of Operations.  “Our other bases are close to Klamath Falls and they will help support each other’s needs, giving us the flexibility and strength needed to respond to almost any critical situation this area may have.”  Stated Ed.

Emergency Airlift saves lives by carrying Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps for heart patients needing air transports.

Emergency Airlift has teamed up with local hospitals, Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg and Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls to transfer those patients needing the immediate attention of a cardiac surgeon specialist across the state with a balloon pump attached for the ride.

“The balloon pump saves lives,” says Dr. Howard Feldman, Cardiology Specialist at the Shaw Heart and Vascular Center in Roseburg, Oregon, “it facilitates safe transport for patients needing bypass surgery.  It is great to have an air transport company like Emergency Airlift who cares enough to have a skilled team making this much needed connection.”

Along with a rapid bed to bed response time, Emergency Airlift helps give heart patients the distinct advantage by keeping the balloon pump attached as a bridge to surgery without causing further heart damage.  The IABP increases blood flow to the heart muscle, producing up to 20% of the heart’s workload for the patient.

This is a service performed entirely by Emergency Airlift staff, available 24 hours a day.  “Our nurses are trained in managing balloon pumps, therefore we are not reliant on the hospital staff to go on the transport” says Susan Schindler, Chief Flight Nurse for Emergency Airlift.  “With more than 140 flights with the pump, our flight crews and the hospitals are very familiar with loading and unloading the equipment attached to the patient.”

“Our mission is to provide fast, reliable aero medical transports emphasizing the best medical care possible,” states Ed Langerveld, owner/operator of Emergency Airlift, “the hospitals on both ends of the transport are thrilled by this crucial unmet need that we have filled with the balloon pumps.”

Emergency airlift has 3 bases of operation in southern Oregon and 2 in Nevada, with a fleet of 2 helicopters, 7 fixed wing and 2 long range jets, making Emergency Airlift the most versatile air ambulance company in the Pacific Northwest.
